Solutions for the modern manufacture of removable restorations.

At ARPA Dental Laboratory you will find good solutions to achieve reliable and aesthetic results in the modern manufacture of removable prostheses.

The improvements in materials and our Dental CAD/CAM technology, combined with progress in technical knowledge, decisively influence the achievement of successful results that meet the highest clinical demands, achieving removable prosthetic restorations where the shape and size of the teeth, colour and materials, are as individualised as possible, with a smaller volume in its structure, a better fit and a greater hardness and durability.

  • Description

Removable prostheses include dental restorations that, as their own name indicates, can be extracted and replaced by the patient. They are commonly known as dentures and are attached to the mouth by the teeth and/or mucosa.

This treatment is usually prescribed as:

    • An alternative for patients who, for different medical reasons, cannot opt for a fixed solution.
    • A transition or provisional method for patients who will have a fixed prosthesis later.

THESE DENTAL PROSTHESES CAN BE ACRYLIC OR METALLIC.

A removable metal or skeletal denture may also be combined with a fixed dental prosthesis which we call MIXED DENTAL PROSTHESIS.

  • Types of Removable Dental Prosthesis restorations

    • COMPLETE REMOVABLE ACRYLIC PROSTHESES: For restorations in which the patient has lost all of their teeth. The prosthesis is held in the mouth with the mucosa.
    • PARTIAL REMOVABLE ACRYLIC PROSTHESES: For restorations in partially edentulous patients. The prosthesis is supported on the mucosa and may also be on an adjacent tooth by means of retainers or metal hooks.
    • PARTIAL REMOVABLE SKELETAL PROSTHESES: These are partial tooth-mucosa-supported prostheses, which means they are held both by the remaining teeth that the patient still retains in the mouth, as well as by the mucosa. It is a prosthesis made from a cast or sintered metal base, using different alloys, usually cobalt chromium, but also from noble alloys such as palladium, gold or titanium.
    • MIXED PROSTHESES: These are removable dental prostheses supported by anchors to another fixed dental prosthesis, forming part of the same design in the same arch. This type of prosthesis has several advantages over skeletal ones, such as offering greater aesthetics by eliminating the arms of the retainer which can sometimes be visible.

  • Materials

    • ACRYLIC RESINS: These are polymers based on methyl polymetracrylate. It is an easy material to manipulate. Currently, different types of resin are used for both the preparation of the removable prostheses’ base and for artificial teeth.
    • CEROMER: For the preparation of artificial teeth. It is a hybrid material between resin and ceramic which offers a good aesthetic result and a great clinical behaviour.
    • COBALT CHROMIUM AND OTHER ALLOYS: Highly accepted and used in dental restoration due to its hardness and biocompatibility, while at the same time being flexible and resistant.
